According to a 2023 survey of 12,000 couples by the knot, forty-three percent took place between the months of September and November. These numbers tell you that Fall will always be a busy season for events! Our team loves this time of year for weddings especially for outdoor ceremonies! There’s something a little bit magical about the cooler temperatures and all the leaves changing color. As much as we love fall weddings, we understand the need for a new take on fall décor. Don’t get me wrong, I am obsessed with any type of pumpkin and I love fall leaves but that look isn’t for everyone. We do like the idea of using the season as inspiration for your wedding vision, but you don’t have to add plaid and burlap. We had some beautiful weddings with fall inspiration that inspired us to think outside the box!
A moody ’til Death theme
Okay we know your initial thoughts might be: Is this too “Halloween”, are the colors too dark, how can I make this chic and elegant? The answers: No, you don’t have to go full Halloween. It’s about incorporating specific elements that can be focal points. Most weddings lean towards a lighter color palette, but there is something striking about darker tones. We love rich purples, burgundy and black mixed together. We had two weddings with this theme and each one had its own unique look.
Nicole & Brandon

We have to talk about Nicole and Brandon’s early October wedding. They chose a beautiful camp location at Paris Mountain State Park. Camp Buckhorn offers cozy cabins and gorgeous lake views. They choose to utilize the lake as a backdrop for their ceremony. They used a unique arch with small touches of black to create a moody look. They also opted for black ceremony chairs as well. The couple decided to institute a dress code of all black and it did not disappoint. All the guests looked very chic. You can’t go wrong with a little black dress or a suit for a classy look.
The reception took place in a tented area with a black and white dance floor. The tables were decorated with unique and quirky pieces such as black candles, pampas grass, fans, and black cats. They also added several elements to honor their heritages. Beautiful black paper cranes hung from the tent to include the groom’s culture. Guests were given pins of rosemary to honor the bride’s Croatian roots.
The wedding cake was absolutely stunning. A member of the bride’s family created a monotoned look with flecks of gold for a little dash of sparkle. The topper was the perfect combination of elegant and the til death theme. Guests enjoyed the vanilla and raspberry flavors!
The highlight of the reception was when the dance floor opened. When we say there was not a single dull moment, we aren’t exaggerating. The bride and groom were in a hip hop dance group and several of their friends as well. They brought the most fun dance moves we’ve seen! It was packed with great music and so many dance battles. We can’t think of a better way to dance the night away.
Jennifer & Christian
October is perfect for a moody theme. Jennifer and Christian’s wedding took place at the lovely Huitt Farms in Anderson, South Carolina. We love that it’s a blank canvas and you can add your own unique stamp. Jennifer did an amazing job creating several DIY elements. The ceremony took place between two towering oak trees with a black arch. We added touches of black tulle to the end chairs to add elements of the til death theme. All the bridesmaids wore long black gowns in different styles. We thought the mismatched look was really fun. The groomsmen wore matching suits.
The reception took place inside the barn. Our team set up guest tables with black table clothes, gold chargers and black plates. The centerpieces had candles and touches of deep purple. We absolutely loved all black dessert table with cupcakes and the wedding cake. The bride created large black candle centerpieces to add to the bridal party table. The tables also had large hurricane vases for the bridesmaids’ bouquets. This added another layer of moody elements. Candles can add so much to the atmosphere especially once the sun sets.
